The Magnet School for Technology and Communication (MSTAC) in Morningside Heights, where The LAMP has been in residency for the last four years. Although TMSTC has struggled in the past, it is making vast improvements this year under new leadership. The LAMP’s after-school program has an attendance record of 90%, which is a first for TMSTC, and engages students in both multimedia and physical fitness activities. The donors joined students on a media scavenger hunt, helping them find subjects and take video from a variety of angles while utilizing new vocabulary terms and practicing digital storytelling. The kids were thrilled to have a new group of adults to impress, and the donors told us they loved the experience of getting even a small slice of what The LAMP does every day.
