The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project), a nationally-recognized leader in media literacy education, seeks a Director of Development to help lead the organization at a critical juncture.
Currently celebrating its ten year anniversary, The LAMP is also at the forefront of discussions around combating fake news and using media tools to boost youth civic engagement, such as with the MediaBreaker/Studios application and the upcoming 22 Million Votes by 2020 campaign. This is an exciting time for a driven development professional to work closely with The LAMP’s co-founder and Executive Director in steering organizational strategy and development.
The LAMP teaches what we call The Three Cs: we want our participants to Comprehend all forms of media, to Create all forms of media, and ultimately to Challenge all forms of media – to talk back. We conduct workshops during and after school, through the summer and on weekends. We hold free public events and trainings, and develop interactive online resources to support media learning in classrooms and households nationwide. The LAMP partners with dozens of public schools and community-based organizations in high-need communities. We bring equipment, materials and teachers directly to schools, community centers and libraries throughout New York City. Simply put, we meet people where they are rather than expecting them to come to us.
Applications for this role will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, so interested parties are encouraged to apply early!
The LAMP is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and is located in a wheelchair accessible building. People of color, LGBTQ people, women, people with disabilities, and immigrants are strongly encouraged to apply.
