On Monday, February 8, The LAMP began our first ever Digital Career Path program for high school students. Over the course of the next 15 weeks, Mondays and Wednesdays after school, 20 students, ages 16-19, will be critically exploring online media and developing the digital literacy skills that will prepare them for college and beyond. Students will be learning the Adobe Creative Cloud software, video production and graphic design, as well as basic coding and web design skills. They’ll be discussing issues such as digital footprint and digital privacy, and they’ll examine ways to responsibly manage their own online presence. Students will collaborate on digital entrepreneurship projects and client-based projects that challenge and showcase their communication and networking skills.
The Tech Up Digital Career Path is taking place at Hudson Guild‘s brand new Tech Up Learning Lab on 17th Street. Along with the high school program, we’ll also be spending nearly 100 hours with a group of out-of-school adults, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Thanks to Stephanie Wingert and everyone at Hudson Guild for getting the new learning lab and the Tech Up program off the ground. We’re looking forward to an exciting and transformative 15 weeks!
