Paul Brownfield is a current freelance writer for the New York Times, a former staff writer and television critic for the Los Angeles Times, and also the lead facilitator for The LAMP’s Making the News workshops with the Brooklyn Public Library (click here for the full schedule and branch locations). Read our full interview with Paul to hear his thoughts about early attitudes towards the web in newsrooms, how the interactive nature of the web impacts journalism, and why media literacy is important for students and working journalists alike.

To help us continue our services as New York City’s only nonprofit organization giving free hands-on media literacy workshops to parents, youth and educators, please consider a small tax-deductible donation. Your donation goes to work immediately supporting workshop equipment, supplies, and administrative and facilitator fees.

Watch videos from LAMPlatoon’s Super Bowl 2012 Edition!
Friends and facilitators of The LAMP gathered on Super Bowl Sunday to watch the year’s greatest spectacle in sports–the commercials. Between slices of pizza and cheers for the Giants, we broke a few of our favorite (and least favorite) ads from this year’s crop of multi-million dollar messages. Check them out onour YouTube channel and tell us what you think!
