Every Maker Faire, like the one talking place tomorrow and Sunday in New York, is a celebration of innovation, creativity and all things DIY. So it’s only fitting that LAMPlatoon, a project which relies heavily on and raises awareness about fair use, should have a space for people to come create their own broken commercials. None of the inventions and next-big-things you’ll find at a Maker Faire would have been possible if people were legally blocked from building off of someone else’s coding, materials or designs to create something new and transformative.
Keep this in mind when you come to Maker Faire New York this weekend, and be sure to stop by our booth by the Young Maker’s tent to put your own fair use rights into action. Volunteers will be there to help you learn how to edit videos, and you’ll get a disk with your video to take home. If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, it’s not too late to buy online, or you can pay at the door. Don’t miss out, and we’ll see you this weekend!
